We’re hiring an experienced Sr. Manager Software Development as Teamlead in our Starnberg office to guide and inspire our united-domains Development team. You will oversee the design, optimization, and maintenance of critical systems handling high-volume transactions, API integrations, and database architecture, with a goal to adopt and expand into the Group Target Platforms.
Your leadership will ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our global domain services, while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
While a strong foundation in our current tech stack is preferred, we value leaders who can adapt and guide their team in exploring new technologies.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software developers focused on backend services.
- Oversee the development, deployment, and maintenance of Perl and Java/Go-based backend services for domain ordering.
- Drive the integration with third-party APIs for domain registration and management.
- Define and optimize database schemas, queries, and data workflows, ensuring best practices
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshoot Linux service issues to ensure maximum system availability.
- Champion and refine software methodologies, including agile practices, and CI/CD processes.
- Guide architectural decisions, document solutions, and ensure adherence to technical standards.
- Manage the full software development lifecycle from conception to deployment and maintenance.
We appreciate
- 4+ years of experience in leading or managing software development teams.
- Proven experience in managing software development teams, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
- Experience with architecture design and decision-making for scalable and reliable systems.
- Proficiency in one programming language expertise: Backend / systems development, scalability, systems monitoring and optimization
- Strong Linux knowledge: Command-line mastery, service deployment, and troubleshooting.
- Database Design: schema development and complex query tuning.
- APIs & Integrations: Experience with REST APIs and modern standards
- Git and common CI/CD frameworks is required

- Domain industry knowledge (Domain lifecycle, Registries, DNS).
- Strong Perl, Java or Golang knowledge
- Kubernetes and cloud-native skills
- Familiarity with Modern Perl practices (Moose, PSGI, Plack).
- Experience with Mini-CPAN or internal CPAN management.
Bonus Skills (Value-Add)
- Advanced containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- CI/CD pipeline design (Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
